In schools across Benin, children are trying to learn without books, without Power, without access to even the most basic educational tools. This is not just a gap. It’s a crisis. But together, we can build the solutions.
Where Books, Electricity and Opportunity Begin
For five years, Advance Benin has been working to get children into school. Children who would otherwise be trafficked, forced to work, or forgotten. But once in school, too many still face enormous barriers. Most have no school supplies, no textbooks, and no electricity, making real learning nearly impossible.
That’s why Advance Benin is launching a bold, first of its kind initiative:
Self-powered educational Resource Centers in the communities that need them most.
Our objectives
Why This Matters:
These centers will change the educational landscape in Benin, because currently, nothing like them exists.
Most students in Benin have never seen a microscope, a computer, or even the books required for their school subjects.
Teachers are dedicated, but lack even the most basic materials to support classroom learning.
Many schools and villages have no electricity at all, cutting off students from digital learning and evening study.
We can change that.
What We’re Building
- 🔆 A self-Powered Infrastructure
So learning doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. - 📚 Libraries with textbooks, children’s books, ESL materials, and culturally relevant stories.
- 💻 Computer Labs
Equipped with internet access and training tools for 21st-century skills. - 🧪 Science Labs
Hands-on resources so students can experience the subjects they study. - 🎉 Multipurpose Event Space
A community hub for school celebrations, training events, and neighborhood gatherings.
🏫 Two Types of Centers:
Flagship Resource Center in Cotonou – Benin’s largest city ($700,000)
Smaller, scalable centers in rural villages – ($250,000 each)
All centers will be free to access for students, teachers, and local residents.
