Provide Life Changing Education
School year 2024-2025 Donation
The 2024-2025 school year brought modest yet meaningful growth for Advance Benin as we expanded to support 64 children. All the students from last year successfully advanced to higher grades, thanks in part to the continued impact of our tutoring program. This year, we welcomed new students in Cotonou who demonstrated an exceptional need for assistance, reaffirming the importance of our mission. Internally, we made significant strides in improving how we stay organized in the United States, ensuring we can better serve the children and communities we support while continuing to Cultivate Dreams through Education.
School year 2023-2024 Donation
The 2023-2024 school year was a remarkable milestone for Advance Benin as we continued Cultivating Dreams through Education. In the remote village of Sehoué, we grew from just three young girls to over 25 students, bringing our total to 53 students across Sehoué and Cotonou. Along with providing school supplies, we expanded our tutoring program in Cotonou to ensure students needing extra support could thrive. This year also marked growth within our organization, as we strengthened our team in both Benin and the United States, united in our mission to empower children with the tools to transform their futures.
The Start of An Educational Journey in "Sehoue"
Our hopes were fulfilled when we were able to enroll 3 young girls in school from a small, remote farming community in Sehoue, Benin. They have never set foot inside a school because their caregivers could not afford the supplies and paperwork needed! This year marks the first year of our outreach to Sehoue and we are eager to help more children step into a brighter future! Because they are in school, they will receive an education not granted to many of their peers. Many of the children in their village will never have this opportunity and will instead work in the fields until they are old enough to work in someone else’s home or be married.
School year 2022-2023 Donation
17 precious Beninese children were gifted with a full array of supplies, uniforms, backpacks and other necessities for school in the 2022-2023 school year. Our team on the ground in Benin were present to distribute to 12 children at the school Vedoko 3 in Cotonou, Benin. Thanks to our kind-hearted donors for helping us exceed our original goals and help even more children this year!
School year 2021-2022 Donation
We hope to be able to help more children in desperate need of education in more remote areas in Benin.
This school year, we were blessed and happy to sponsor 9 girls and 4 boys. 13 kids in total. 11 of the kids are present and live in Cotonou, the economic capital of Benin and 2 in Pahou, a remote city located just about 40 minutes away from Cotonou.
We were filled with joy in September 2021, when we sponsored 13 children by providing all necessary school supplies needed for them to be accepted in classrooms. We are very proud of the progress they are making! They remain determined and eager to learn despite their difficult life conditions. Because many of these children are orphans they may otherwise be on the streets begging or working in precarious environments. We are planting seeds of hope by helping these children out of illiteracy and there are many others patiently waiting for their turn!
Empowering the Next Generation
Since our start in 2019, Advance Benin has witnessed the incredible impact of education through stories like Kemi’s. When she first began her journey with us, she skipped ahead two grade levels despite starting school later than most children her age. Today, Kemi continues to make remarkable progress, demonstrating resilience and an unwavering commitment to her studies. While not everything comes easily, her dedication and perseverance inspire us all.
Kemi’s experience has ignited a passion in her to advocate for other vulnerable children and orphans, those whose parents undervalue education, children forced to work, and vidomegons (girls employed as child slaves). She is determined to show that education can transform lives and prove to her parents that schooling is not only worthwhile but life-changing.
Although we are still working to get her siblings enrolled in school, Kemi’s story serves as a beacon of hope and a reminder of the difference we can make together. Your continued support empowers children like Kemi to overcome obstacles and pave the way for a brighter future for themselves and others in their communities.
Cultivating Dreams Through Education
The Advance Benin team is driven by a shared passion and commitment to making a difference. We work to help children in need gain access to school, opening the door to a brighter, more promising future.
Every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and dream. By bridging the gap between vulnerability and opportunity, we aim to break the cycle of poverty and create lasting change.
